Shaw claims record Man City haul for 2022/23 season

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Karen Madden

Jamaican international Khadija "Bunny" Shaw has described as "unbelievable" her achievement as the highest goal scorer in a season in all competitions for Manchester City's women's team.

The Reggae Girlz captain, who signed a three year deal with Manchester City in June of 2021, scored a brace on Sunday in the team’s 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Women's Super League (WSL) to make her the highest-scoring player for a single season in the club's 34 year history.

With seven league games still to play, the 26-year-old who is the WSL's top scorer with 15 goals in 15 appearances, now has ample time to extend her record 26 goals in all competitions, having surpassed the previous mark of 24 set by Nikita Parris in the 2018-2019 season.
