Titchfield take double titles in ISSA high school table tennis

Titchfield High were double winners in the boys section, while St Mary High and Westwood took the respective girls titles as the ISSA rural area table tennis season ended at the GC Foster College. Titchfield high landed the boys Under 19 trophy after dispatching St Mary High 3-1 in their best of five final.

The Portland-based school captured the first two games, but St Mary rallied to take game three, to force an extra game.  However, Titchfield proved stronger and took the fourth game and the championship trophy. St Mary High retained their hold on the Under 19 girls trophy with a comfortable 3-1 margin over York Castle.

They were also up 2-nil before York Castle forced a fourth game by winning the third match. A fifth game was however avoided as the champions took game four and consecutive holds on the rural area crown.

Earlier, Titchfield showed their intention of taking the double when their Under 16 boys, completed an easy 3-0 win over St James High.

For the third straight year, Westwood High were crowned Under 16 girls champions after a 3-0 triumph over Mount Alvernia High. In the one sided encounter, Westwood dominated in all three games without breaking much of a sweat to lift the trophy. The urban area finals are set for next week Thursday at Campion College.
