Sri Lanka have beaten the West Indies in a T20 international series for the first time after recording a 9 wicket win over the Caribeban men in Dambulla on Thursday.
Set 163 to win, Sri Lanka got off to a flying start as they got 60 from the first five overs. Pathum Nissanka was in a punishing mode as he hit 7 fours and a six in making 39 from 22 deliveries..
Kusal Mendis 68 and Kusal Perera 55, carried the hosts to victory at 166-1 with an unbroken 106 run partnership.
Earlier, Rovman Powell played a captain's innings to rescue the Windies from 62-5 after 11 overs to post 162-8.
Powell hit 3 sixes and a four in a top score of 37 and got support from Gudakesh Motie who made 32 as the pair shared in a 54 run 6th wicket stand.
Romario Shepherd also made 18 from 13 balls towards the end. Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga both had 2 wickets.
The West Indies have not won a bilateral series in Asia since 2020.
