RnB crooner Tyrese is taking legal action following an alleged racist incident at a hardware store.
The 44-year-old and two other plaintiffs are seeking more than US$1 million in damages from the Home Depot, accusing the store of racially profiling them at the retailer's West Hills, California location in February.
The How You Gonna Act Like That hitmaker has since shared footage on Instagram of his dispute regarding the store's ID policy and a female worker at the centre of the controversy.
The post, which was shared over the weekend, showed the exchange with the female cashier, who refused to complete a transaction until she saw a proper form of identification.
As outlined in the legal documents, the men assert that the cashier and a store manager who reportedly refused to speak with the Fast and Furious actor, purposely interfered with and refused to process the transaction based on their groundless suspicion of the trio arising from their skin colour.
The retailer also addressed the legal matter in a statement. In short, the company said it does not tolerate discrimination and will continue to reach out to Tyrese and his legal team in hopes of arriving at a resolution.
