Former Bank of Jamaica Governor Richard Byles has been awarded an 'A' rating for his performance in 2026, a grade that signifies excellent performance.
Mr. Byles was the only central bank governor from the Caribbean among eight governors worldwide to receive the 'A' rating in this year's Global Finance magazine Central Banker Report Cards.
The annual assessment evaluates central bank governors in nearly 100 countries, territories and monetary unions, measuring their effectiveness in controlling inflation, supporting economic growth, maintaining currency stability, managing interest rates and preserving political independence.
Only two governors achieved the highest "A+' rating this year, those from Denmark and Peru.
Mr. Byles' tenure as Governor of the Bank of Jamaica ended in August. He was succeeded by Dr. Brian Langrin.
