Jamaicans being urged to embrace opportunities in shipping & logistics

Jamaicans are being encouraged to look at opportunities in shipping and logistics.
 
In that regard, Dr Taneisha Ingleton, Managing Director of the HEART NSTA Trust, has stressed that Jamaica's workforce has to position itself to benefit from the opportunities in the multi-billion dollar industry, which is "projected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of around three-point-five per cent to four-point-five per cent, from 2024 to 2030."
 
The value of the global industry currently stands at US$22.9 billion, she revealed.
 
Dr ingleton was speaking at the signing of an MOU with German Ship Repair Jamaica.
 
The MOU will see to the provision of apprenticeship and training for participants. 
 
In support of that initiative, she stressed that the country's young people need "the skills and the competencies that they need to tap into that industry."
 
"Where there is a skill, there is a way," she declared.
