Chief Eexecutive Officer of the Seprod Group of Companies Limited, Richard Pandohie, says Jamaica's Kingston Harbour, the seventh largest harbour in the world, remains underutilised.
He is therefore calling for the Port Authority to do more to maximise the use of the port, not just for transhipment purposes but also to move domestic cargo.
Mr. Pandohie's call comes against the background of the jump in the trade deficit to US$3.8 billion during the first eight months of this year.
During the period, exports fell to US$1.19 billion and imports dipped 2.6% to $4.9 billion.
