The National Housing Trust (NHT) says it will be extending the Smart Energy Grant to private sector pensioners in order to increase access to the facility.
Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Dwayne Berbick, says this policy change will become effective on Tuesday, July 1.
The NHT launched its Smart Energy Grant in 2024, offering $1.5 million per eligible pensioner in order to purchase solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems.
The facility was originally only available to public sector pensioners who earned less than $30,000 per week.
It will now be available to all pensioners earning less than $30,000 per week.
