Nike to be removed from S&P 100 index

Nike is set to be removed from the S&P 100 index later this month.

S&P Dow Jones Indices announced the change last week, as the sportswear giant continues efforts to turn around its business under second-year CEO Elliott Hill.

The S&P 100 tracks 100 major blue-chip companies. Inclusion in the index can benefit companies because some investment funds are designed to mirror its holdings.

Nike's stock price has fallen 53 per cent since Hill took over as CEO in October 2024.

The stock is also down about 79 per cent from its record high of US$179.10 in November 2021.

Hill is expected to address investors on Wednesday at Nike's annual shareholder meeting, where he is likely to face questions about the company's turnaround efforts.
