Washington Post begins layoffs today following Jeff Bezos' newsroom visit

Media Company, Washington Post begins layoffs today. This move was announced last month.

It is not immediately clear how many staffers were impacted by the cuts.

It's understood that the layoffs would ultimately not result in a net reduction of its workforce, as investments will be made in other areas.

The layoffs come days after owner Jeff Bezos visited the newsroom and held meetings with management.

In other job cuts, Spotify announced yesterday that it was laying off hundreds of staffers. Google, along with Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft, reduced their workforce last week. Google said it had made the decision to eliminate 6 per cent of its workforce, which translates to approximately 12,000 jobs.
