Yendi named 1st runner up in Miss Universe 2010

Jamaica’s Yendi Philips placed second in the 59th Miss Universe pageant Monday night in Las Vegas.

Yendi competed against 82 women from across the world.

She was first runner up to Miss Mexico, Jimena Navarrete.

In the an interview with Television Jamaica’s magazine programme Smile Jamaica, the 2010 Miss Jamaica Universe said she was elated and felt more prepared to do a great job in the pageant.

Yendi was crowned Miss Jamaica World in 2007.

She is the third woman to win both the Miss Jamaica Universe and Miss Jamaica World titles.

The 24-year-old was on the list of crowd favourites vying for the title of Miss Universes 2010.
