48-hour curfew imposed in sections of Central Village

A 48-hour curfew has been imposed in sections of Central Village, St Catherine, in response to an upsurge in violence.
 
The curfew started at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m., Thursday. 
 
The georgraphical area covered by the curfew is tense following violent attacks since Monday when a man was fatally shot and his house firebombed and a woman was shot and wounded while sitting outside her house.
 
Following that incident, four members of a family were murdered in the Tuesday morning. 
 
The bodies of a woman, her two daughters -one aged 13 - and her four year old grandson were discovered in a house on First Avenue.
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that about 1:30, explosions were heard and shortly after fire was seen coming from the three bedroom house.
 
Three of the bodies were found on the verandah and a fourth in a bathroom.
