Appliance Traders responds to concerns over Pension Scheme

The Appliance Traders (ATL) Group is reserving comment on a contentious issue involving Patrick Lynch, former Director of the Group's Pension Scheme.

In a statement Thursday morning the Group's attorney Dmitri Singh conceded that the exercise with Mr. Lynch is one of the most difficult in the company's over 40 years of existence.

But the group says as the matter is now in the hands of the police, it is constrained from making any further comments at this time.

However, Mr. Singh asserted that there are significant gaps and unresolved issues in Mr. Lynch's statements which the company will address at the appropriate time and forum.

On Wednesday, RJR News reported that Mr. Lynch has sought the assistance of the Financial Services Commission, in connection with an alleged case of fraud at the Sandals Group.

The allegation surrounds accusations that payments were made from the ATL Pension Fund by forged documents.

Mr. Lynch has described the accusations as baseless and preposterous.

He is among three former executives of the Sandals Group, whose houses were raided by the police a week ago, in connection with the matter.
