Bail extended for medical doctor accused of treating Clansman gang members

Well-known Spanish Town medical doctor, Paul Robinson, who is accused of treating members of the Clansman gang without informing the authorities, had his bail extended on Tuesday when he appeared before the St. Catherine Parish Court.

The 65-year-old medical practitioner, who is charged with misprision of felony, is to return to court on July 26.

In outlining the allegations in court, the Clerk of the Court accused Dr. Robinson of treating the gunshot wounds of two members of the gang, who are now incarcerated, and providing them with prescriptions in 2020.

It was disclosed Tuesday morning that the court is awaiting the delivery of the prescriptions as well as a report from the Health Ministry pertaining to the doctor's medical licence.

Dr. Robinson was arrested at his office on Young Street in Spanish Town in April following investigations into his alleged involvement with members of the Clansman gang.

Twenty-three members of the St. Catherine-based gang have been charged under the anti-gang legislation and with other serious offences.

Reputed leader of the gang, Tesha Miller, is among those charged.

The offences include murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Dr. Robinson is being represented by attorneys-at-law K.D. Knight and Matthew Hyatt.
