Barbados has welcomed a historic opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the responsibility of states for climate change.
The UN Court ruled that countries can sue each other over climate change, including over historic emissions of planet warming gases.
Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has described the decision as a major win for small island developing states in their fight against the climate crisis.
