‘Billy Slaughter’ fatally shot in August Town

Members of the security forces continue to grapple with the increasing number of reported murders across the island.

In the latest incidents, 38-year-old labourer, Pete Wright, alias ‘Billy Slaughter’, of August Town Road, Kingston 7, was fatally shot, on Friday night, in his community.

Reports from the August Town Police are that about 10:45 p.m., Wright was sitting outside a wholesale, when he was approached by a group of men.

The men reportedly pulled handguns and opened fire, hitting him several times. 

The police were called and they later saw Mr. Wright’s body on the pavement.

The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.

Investigations are continuing.

Over in Montego Bay, 42-year-old mason, Henry Salmon, of Mount Cairy and Guns Drive in Granville, St. James, was shot dead by gunmen in the parish, Friday night.

Information from the Montego Bay Police is that about 10:10 Friday night, residents reported hearing loud explosions and alerted the police.

At the scene, investigators saw Mr. Salmon’s body, with bullet wounds, on the roadway.  

The Free Port Police are investigating.
