The 15-member CARICOM grouping is reiterating its position regarding its call for a peaceful resolution of the Israel-Hamas conflict through meaningful dialogue and negotiation.
In a statement, CARICOM said it also supported the proposals released last weekend by United States President Joe Biden for a full and complete ceasefire leading to a cessation of hostilities and a major reconstruction plan for Gaza.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has poured cold water on the proposal, reiterating that there would be no permanent cease-fire in the war against Hamas in Gaza until the country's conditions are met, which include the destruction of the militant group.
