Chuck urges Integrity Commission to say whether probe of alleged "illicit enrichment" is complete

 

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck is calling for the Integrity Commission to indicate whether it has completed its investigation into alleged illicit enrichment in relation to parliamentarians.

 

Mr Chuck said on Tuesday that the investigation should not continue for a protracted period.

 

"It should not continue for a year to clear up the allegations of illicit enrichment," he insisted during the latest meeting of Parliament's Integrity Commission Oversight Committee.

 

Noting that "people have been asking which six parliamentarians or which 26/28 public officials are being investigated, he stressed that it was important for the Integrity Commission to "report to Parliament as soon as possible if these persons have cleared up their matte, and if they have not cleared up, investigate them and report to parliament as quickly as possible."
