By Clinton McGregor

The Kingston Western Police are searching for a man who reportedly shot his child's mother, leaving her hospitalised in serious condition.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night along Buckas Scheme, Third Street, Kingston 12.

The victim is a 36-year-old vendor of the same address.

The Kingston Western Police say Mark Anthony Roberts, otherwise called 'Markie', is wanted for questioning in connection with the incident.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, head of the Area 4 Police, says Roberts should immediately report to the police.

It's reported that the woman was involved in a heated argument with her child's father.

During the dispute, the man allegedly pulled a firearm and shot her in the chest and hand.

The complainant then ran and was chased by her attacker, but later collapsed.

She was assisted to hospital, where she was admitted for treatment.

The suspect then made good his escape on foot in the area.

It's alleged that the suspect is a member of a criminal gang in the area and the police are fearing reprisals for the shooting of the woman.
