Clearsound Production Services Group, which was contracted to provide stage and sound at Sting 2024, says a lack of confirmed funds was behind its decision not to proceed with the event.
Isaiah Laing, head of Supreme Promotions Limited, announced on Thursday that the much anticipated stage show has been postponed.
The annual Boxing Day dancehall stage show was set for Thursday night at the Jamworld Entertainment Centre in Portmore, St. Catherine.
Mr. Laing said the postponement was due to the withdrawal of the production company for the event.
Clearsound says it was contracted to deliver audio and visuals, lighting, power generation, roofing system, and pyrotechnics for the annual Boxing Day event.
In a release, Clearsound said despite assurances and word-of-mouth promises, a total of $1 million was received from Mr. Laing, which was paid in three parts on December 22 and December 23.
It says the remaining $7 million was promised by December 24 but was not deposited into its designated account.
The company says it also received a photo of a purported RTGS transaction for $6.5 million.
But it says this amount remains outstanding.
According to Clearsound, this sum of $8 million does not constitute the total payment due for its services.
It says additional payment would have become due at sound check Thursday.
Clearsound says despite the leniency extended, the promoter's failure to remit the payment by December 24 constitutes a fundamental breach of contract.
