Collymore Trial: Judge to begin summation Monday as lawyers close arguments

By Racquel Porter

Defence attorneys representing murder accused Omar Collymore and his three co-accused, wrapped up their address to the jury, with one attorney saying the Crown failed to prove its case against his client.

Mr. Collymore is being tried for two counts of murder and conspiracy to murder, along with alleged contract killer Michael Adams, and alleged accomplices Dwayne Pink and Shaquilla Edwards, in connection with the January 2, 2018 gun murder of Simone Campbell-Collymore and taxi driver Winston Walters.

The men have been on trial since February.

Mr. Pink's attorney Ernest Davis told the seven-member jury that the prosecution had no credible evidence against his client.

Mr. Davis said call data shows that his client was elsewhere when the crime was committed.

He also urged the jury to find Mr. Pink not guilty.

In the meantime, presiding judge Justice Leighton Pusey is to begin his summation on Monday.

The prosecution, in its closing address, told jurors that Mr. Collymore orchestrated his wife's murder so that he could benefit from her multimillion-dollar insurance policy.

The court previously heard that Mr. Collymore would have been entitled to $76 million from his wife's two life insurance policies.
