Cop and attacker dead after shooting at Half Way Tree police station

Investigators from the Major Investigation Division and the Police High Command are now at the scene of a double killing at Half Way Tree Police Station in St. Andrew.

A detective sergeant and a well-known businessman were killed in the incident.

Preliminary information suggests that sometime Monday afternoon, the businessman, who had been charged for fraud, was remanded in custody.

While being escorted from the court, a tussle developed between the detective sergeant and the businessman.

Another police officer intervened, and was disarmed by the businessman.

The businessman then shot the detective sergeant before turning the gun on himself.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
