The bodies of three members of a family were found with what appeared to be bullet wounds inside their house in Waterloo district, St. Catherine on Tuesday morning.

They are 43-year-old Omar Wellington, his wife 35-year-old Sharon Francis-Wellington, who was pregnant, and their son, 16-year-old Orlando Wellington, who was a student at Innswood High school.

It's reported that sometime after 5 o'clock, a passerby saw the door to the house ajar and alerted the police.

Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the JCF's Corporate Communications Unit, said residents reported hearing explosions sometime after 3 o'clock.

SSP Lindsay said the hands of the victims were bound.

"What we are trying to ascertain now is what could have been the motivation behind this particular incident. We're not getting much information, but they are using whatever lines of inquiries that they are following to see if they can actually put bits and pieces of this investigation together," the JCF communications head admitted.

She said a team from the Scene of Crime unit is processing the scene while the investigation is being led by the Major Investigation Division in collaboration with investigators from the St. Catherine North Division.

"So they are hoping that sooner or later they may have some concrete information that can even inform the arrest of some persons," said SSP Lindsay.

She appealed to members of the community with information that can aid the investigation to come forward.
