The Child Protection & Family Services Agency [CPFSA] says it has been made aware of an incident in which a 42 year-old security guard allegedly beat a 14 year old student at a bus stop in St. Andrew.
The incident occurred last Thursday.
The man has since been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
The CPFSA says it will be making contact to ensure the teen's wellbeing and offer any interventions he and his family may need.
CEO of the CPFSA Laurette Adams-Thomas says the agency is seeking to ascertain the level of psychological, psycho-social and any other form of intervention that the boy might need.
The CPFSA says it staunchly condemns all forms of child abuse and encourages adults to be the voice of reason when dealing with children, especially during times of conflict.
Mrs. Adams-Thomas is also encouraging members of the public to report child abuse using the 24 hour child abuse reporting hotline 2-1-1.
