A section of Holland Bamboo in St. Elizabeth was destroyed by fire on Sunday.
According to reports, around 5:45p.m., residents saw fire at a section of the bamboo avenue and contacted the police and fire department.
Units from the Santa Cruz and Black River fire departments responded and extinguished the blaze.
Eight large roots of bamboo were destroyed along with some seedlings recently planted by the Minister of Agriculture.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade is urging the public to desist from setting fires amid dry conditions being experienced in the parish.
