Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness and GraceKennedy CEO Frank James
Former Government Senator and Chief Executive Officer of GraceKennedy Group, Don Wehby was remembered on Thursday as a visionary business leader and dedicated public servant.
Family, friends and dignitaries including cabinet ministers and members of the opposition gathered at Holy Trinity Cathedral to pay their last respects to Mr Wehby, whose influence spanned corporate boardrooms and the Upper House of parliament.
He died on July 26 after battling illness.
He was 62 years old.
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness, in his remembrance, described Mr Wehby as a decisive, humble and collaborative businessman and statesman.
Mr. Wehby took leave of absence from his position at GraceKennedy in late 2024 then later resigned.
He also resigned from the Senate in November 2024.
Frank James, his successor CEO at GK Group, reflected on Mr. Wehby's, contribution to sports at the secondary and professional levels, among his many public contributions.
