Eight suspected criminals detained during police raids in St. Mary

At least eight people suspected of being involved in armed robberies, drug trafficking and lottery scamming activities in St. Mary and St. Ann were detained Tuesday during a series of targeted police operations in St. Mary.
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that police teams from St. Mary and St. Ann conducted a raid at a house in Boscobel View, Oracabessa in search of the leader of a criminal syndicate behind robberies in both parishes.
 
The police say they seized 43 lead sheets, with identity information of people living overseas, at a house occupied by the reputed gang leader who goes by the alias "Bobby Six".
 
Three people held at the premises have since been charged with possession of identity information.
 
They are to be questioned about a series of robberies committed in the St. Ann and St. Mary police area.
 
In another operation targeting the alleged gang leader and members of his network, two other suspects, including a taxi operator, were held in the vicinity of the Bank of Nova Scotia ATM in Oracabessa.
 
They are also to be questioned about armed robberies committed in St. Ann and St. Mary.
 
Three other suspected members of the criminal syndicate were also nabbed by the police Tuesday.
