The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has commenced payment to the majority of election day workers who served in the recent Local Government Election.
The EOJ says payment started on a phased basis at the end of March for some categories of workers including Presiding Officers, Poll Clerks, Polling Station Security Assistants and Indoor Agents.
The gradual payment will continue later this week for other categories of workers including Supervisors, Polling Station Assistants and Voting Location Assistants.
Disbursements are being done through various methods, primarily though remittance entities.
The EOJ says election day workers will be notified of their payment arrangement.
Payments are still being processed for other categories of workers and suppliers including caterers, hoteliers, proprietors, haulage contractors and transportation providers.
