Firefighters are continuing activities in east rural St Andrew to contain and douse a series of fires which started on Thursday.
They are still attempting to extinguish smaller fires which have been spreading in the community of Salt Hill in Content, however, the operations have been made difficult because of fierce winds and humid conditions.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade placed residents on alert for possible evacuation due to the threat level.
The Brigade's Divisional Head for Kingston and St Andrew, Superintendent Shaun Martin, told RJR News that weather conditions have changed, and this has assisted them.
Thursday's fires destroyed a 4-bedroom house, a storeroom and several hectares of farm land , so far losses have not been determined.
The authorities are also monitoring a bush fire which has been raging since Thursday in St. Thomas.
As a result, residents have been placed on alert.
