Flash Flood Warning in effect for seven parishes, others under flood watch

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for St. Mary, Portland, and St. Thomas and has been extended to Clarendon, St. Catherine, Kingston and St. Andrew.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the rest of the island.

The advisory remains in effect until 5 p.m. Friday.

The country continues to be affected by an area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast is for mostly cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms to continue across the island, especially across eastern and south central parishes through to Friday evening.

The Met Service says due to the periods of rainfall over the last few days, the ground is highly saturated and flooding and landslides are likely to occur across eastern and south-central parishes.
