Four shot, two fatally, at bar in St. James

Gunmen struck in Montego Bay, St. James on Monday night, leaving two persons dead and two others, including a woman, wounded.
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the deadly attack occurred in the community of Sign about 11 p.m.
 
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Dean Junior Hastings, otherwise called 'Knockoff', a JUTA tour operator of Lottery district, St. James, and 32-year-old Jamari Richards, a businessman of West Village, Montego Bay St. James.
 
Another businessman and a female bar operator have been hospitalised. 
 
It's reported that patrons were at the Destiny Jade HQ in Sign, playing a game of bingo, when two armed men entered an open fire on them. 
 
The patrons ran from the building in different directions. 
 
One of the gunmen then entered the shop and stole an undetermined sum of money. 
 
The gunmen escaped on foot. 
 
Four persons were injured and rushed to hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead. 
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that another patron fell and hit his head, causing him to be unconscious during the attack. 
 
He was also rushed to hospital, where he regained consciousness and is being treated. 
 
Fifteen spent shells were recovered at the scene. 
 
St. James has been enjoying a significant reduction in murders and shootings this year; 56 murders have been recorded in the parish in 2025, compared to 121 over the same period last year.
