A construction worker was arrested on Monday during a major intelligence-led operation that resulted in the seizure of over $51 million worth of cocaine in Papine, St. Andrew.

The police say the cocaine, weighing 69 kilogrammes or 152 pounds, was found at a residence on University Crescent.

The suspect was the sole occupant of the premises.

Reports are that about 11:30 p.m. on November 2, members of the Specialised Operations Branch and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, executed a warrant at the residence.

A search led to the discovery of several cartons of cocaine.

The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) was contacted and will conduct further investigations into the seizure.
