A series of fires hit French high-speed rail lines this morning, hours before the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony was scheduled to begin.
The ceremony gets underway at 12:25 p.m. Jamaica time.
Rail company SNCF said it was a massive attack aimed at paralysing the network.
The company said trains at all major Paris stations were delayed after the fires and some 800,000 customers will be affected with disruption expected all weekend.
Officials said France's high-speed rail lines seem to be the intended target, as fires were set along three lines while a fourth fire on another line was stopped.
