For the better part of the last four years, a domestic violence incident, caught on camera and widely circulated on social media, has dogged newly reinstated Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) member George Wright.
The Central Westmoreland MP was never arrested nor charged in the incident, but he resigned from the party after the video began circulating in 2021.
Following his readmission to the JLP last week, Mr. Wright, who had been an independent MP, made a controversial return to his party's side of the House of Representatives.
Mr. Wright, who was early to the sitting, was greeted by government members present but he disappeared for more than an hour of the parliamentary session.
When he returned, the opposition poked fun at him, asking where he was going.
When Radio Jamaica News sought to a comment from government parliamentarians at Gordon House on Tuesday afternoon, those approached all sidestepped the issue, withholding a response to the opposition's comments.
Member of Parliament for North Eastern, Kerensia Morrison, had promised a response but had a change of heart and told Radio Jamaica News that she would no longer provide a comment during a break in proceedings.
Mr. Wright, who has been asked to apologise by the PNP Women's Movement, also declined to comment, indicating that he will not be doing interviews.
