Prime Minister Andrew Holness has hinted at the regularisation of land ownership as a key component in the fight against crime.

He said in 2018 the government passed legislation to expedite the process of land titling.

The Prime Minister said several communities have been targeted under the titling programme.

"We haven't really focused in Kingston and St. Andrew, but in discussing the problem because it's not just about titling, land tenureship is also about national security. So as we look towards the next phase of our community interventions in treating with crime and violence and community security, we're going to be focusing on the regularisation and formalisation of communities," he said.

He was speaking Monday at a townhall meeting for residents of Ackee Walk/Jackson Town in St. Andrew.
