Bahamas Department of Inland Revenue claims Sandals Bahamas owes it US$30.8 million in back taxes

The  Bahamas Department  of Inland  Revenue claims Sandals Bahamas owes it US$30.8 million in back taxes because it under stated its gross income by US$284 million during  the period 2017 to 2022.

Sandals has challenged that assessment.

The Department also says it recently exercised its powers of sale to recover US$700 million in tax arrears from the company, leading to the decision to put a number of Sandals properties up for auction on June 24.

But Sandals says the Department  of Inland  Revenue has made an error due to inaccurate records and it expects a correction soon.
