The Guyana government has signalled its intention to file an appeal against a High Court ruling that no deduction should be made from the salaries of teachers who had participated in a five-week strike earlier this year.
The judgement was handed down on April 19.
Teachers are continuing their strike action as the second day of conciliatory talks between the Guyana Teachers Union and the Ministry of Education ended yesterday without success.
The talks will resume on Monday.
