Heads of state converge for Chavez’ final farewell

A total of 33 heads of state and 55 high-level international delegations are slated to attend Friday’s state funeral for Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez.

It has also been announced that Mr. Chavez's body is to be embalmed and put on display after his funeral.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is leading Jamaica's delegation to the funeral.

It comprises Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator A.J. Nicholson; Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Phillip Paulwell, Mayor of  Kingston, Angela Brown Burke; Opposition Senator Robert Montague and Clifton Stone, Jamaica's former Ambassador to Venezuela.

The Jamaican flag will be flown at half-mast Friday as a mark of respect for the late Venezuelan President.
