Some trade unions are seeking bargaining rights for hotel workers after a series of protests over low wages and working conditions.

The Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees [UCASE] has invited hotel workers to a meeting this Saturday to discuss matters pertaining to their compensation and union representation.

UCASE  President Vincent Morrison and General Secretaty John Levy, as well as General Secretary of the Union of Technical, Administrative and Supervisory Personnel, St. Patrice Ennis will be present.

Meanwhile, the National Workers Union [NWU]  is signing-up hotel workers for union membership, according to the union's General Secertary, Granville Valentine.

He said the NWU had already registered "hundreds of workers" and "expect to submit bargaining rights claims in very short order."

"There's no way we are going to sit by and allow for these workers to continue to be treated in this manner," he declared.
