The British High Commission says Jamaican nationals are not affected by the new requirement of the Electronic Travel Authorization introduced by the UK government and will continue to require a visa for entry.
The new ETA rule, which came into effect on January 8, applies to countries, including in the Caribbean whose nationals do not currently require a visa to enter the UK.
A statement from the High Commission said it was seeking to clarify recent media reports and public discourse on the matter.
British High Commissioner to Jamaica, Judith Slater, says the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorization is an important step in enhancing the UK's border security and more efficiently managing travel.
