Lobby group Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) says the comments made by Government Minister and Member of Parliament Everald Warmington and the People's National Party's Dennis Meadows make them unworthy of public office.
Mr. Meadows professed support for people involved in scamming, while Mr. Warmington stated that taxpayers' money would be withheld from a PNP councillor within his constituency.
JFJ Executive Director Mickel Jackson is calling for Prime Minister Andrew Holness to separate himself and the Office of the Prime Minister from Mr. Warmington.
She said Mr. Warmington's continued misconduct should not be allowed.
"This is not the first time Mr. Warmington has endorsed and has displayed acts of political victimization. This is an individual who, just up to recent times, have (sic) made comments that suggest that the government of Jamaica will be gerrymandering an entire parish," she recounted.
Ms. Jackson suggested the government minister's new comments politically victimize the division and PNP councillor from whom Mr. Warmington threatened to withhold funds. The comments, she said, also breach the Jamaican Constitution as political victimization undermines ones right to vote.
"So we're saying that at this juncture, the Prime Minister of Jamaica must separate himself and the office from Mr. Warmington. He has no moral authority to be a minister in the Cabinet," she demanded.
The JFJ head has also called for the People's National Party to remove Mr. Meadows as its MP caretaker for Trelawny Northern.
"If we look at Dennis Meadows' comments, you have to put in context the crime rate in the country where you have over 70% of the murders committed, they're tied to gang related activities, tied to illegal guns. And then you further extend that relationship with that of scamming in the country as you call it. Now, he's not only endorsing and giving advice on what to do with lotto scamming money, he's inciting it and he has to be careful."
She said the PNP's condemnation of the comments by Mr. Meadows does not go far enough, insisting he "has no place in the House of Parliament" and should be removed as caretaker.
Ms. Jackson was speaking Wednesday evening on TVJ's All Angles.
PNP General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell, who was also a guest on the programme, said the comments made by Mr. Meadows will be referred to the internal affairs committee of the party.
"It is something that we totally disagree with, the stance that was taken...so it is going through the process. We don't want to just get up and just take away the rights of an individual. There are processes, systems in place within the party. We're going to allow the internal mechanism within the party to work," he told All Angles host Dionne Jackson Miller.
