Keith Scotland named Minister of National Security amid rising crime in Trinidad & Tobago

Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has named Senior Counsel Keith Scotland as a Minister in the Ministry of National Security.

It comes amid calls for the removal of National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds as the Twin Island Republic experiences a significant spike in criminal activities.

Speaking at the weekly post Cabinet news conference, Dr Rowley told reporters that Mr Scotland, a government backbencher, would deal particularly with police issues as well as police-to-government issues.

He says the vacation leave of some officers may have to be shortened because of specific issues in the police service that require their expertise and presence.
