Killing of man in New York linked to dispute in Jamaica - NYPD

By Kimone Witter

The police in New York say the killing of a Jamaican man near a Queens lounge earlier this month has been linked to an ongoing dispute in Jamaica.

Kardell Lester, of a Kingston address, and a friend were coming out of the Liquid Lounge on May 4, when he was shot in the head during a drive-by.

Mr. Lester, 25, died in the hospital two days later.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the shooting was in retaliation for an ongoing feud between Denham Town and Tivoli Gardens, stemming from a 2023 homicide.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
