McBean promises review of Police Federation to improve efficiency

Newly elected Chairman of the Jamaica Police Federation, Sergeant Arleen McBean says a comprehensive review of the entity will be undertaken to improve efficiencies.

 

She says the first order of business will be to conduct a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths of the entity, in order to plug the gaps that may exist.

 

Sergeant McBean says it is important that the Federation functions optimally to meet the needs of its members.

 

"We also have to look at how we can improve various areas and also improve on communication and strategise through transformation in representation for everyone, negotiating as best as possible for greatness and thriving harmoniously.... I call the acronym STRENGTH. And we also want to motivate with opportunities whilst admiring and advancing versatility of our members in various areas to the transformational thrust that currently exists. It doesn't filter to the JCF only. It filters down to the rank and file body through representation," she suggested. 

 

In the meantime, Sergeant McBean said she will be pushing for the acceleration of improvements to be made to more police stations.

 

Sergeant McBean pointed to the Mocho and Barnett Street police stations as being in urgent need of attention. 

 

She said the first phase of assistance for those stations must be to temporarily relocate officers "to somewhere that is comfortable and suitable to serve the people of Jamaica".
