More flights between Jamaica and Connecticut

Senior Advisor and Strategist in the Ministry of Tourism Delano Seiveright has welcomed the announced new flights of Avelo Airlines between Jamaica and Connecticut.

 

The flights will operate between Montego Bay and Hartford starting on November 16.

 

This new service will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, providing a convenient and affordable option for travellers.

 

Mr. Seiveright says this addition will auger well for the increasing tourist arrivals. 

 

"Avelo is not very well known, but it's an ultra low-cost carrier in the United States. It's fairly new. It's a big plus for us. Connecticut is a very important state in terms of the visitors that come from there to Jamaica for vacation. But also, we have a sizeable diaspora in the Hartford area of Connecticut, and of course, Connecticut is a part of the tri-state area, which includes New Jersey and New York. So it's a very important base of operation for Jamaica," admitted the tourism strategist. 

 

"We believe it will be a big plus for our tourism product, but also for our diaspora market. So it's very good news for Jamaica. It's another boon for Jamaica's tourism product and our broader economy," he added.
