PNP President Mark Golding has threatened to sue Deputy House Speaker Heroy Clarke over alleged defamatory statements he made last week.

Michael Hylton, the attorney representing People's National Party president Mark Golding, is tightlipped about whether Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Heroy Clarke, has issued an apology over alleged defamatory statements he made last week.
A letter issued by law firm Hart Muirhead Fatta, on June 7, threatened legal action against Mr. Clarke over the comments he made about Mr. Golding's relationship with his wife. The comments were made on June 4 in a WhatsApp group of approximately 300 members.
The letter outlined three requests, which if fulfilled by Mr. Clarke by 4 p.m. on Monday, would result in the potential lawsuit being dropped.
It said failure to comply would result in legal action being taken for damages, injunctive relief and associated costs.
But when contacted Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Hylton declined to comment on the matter.
The letter had requested that Mr. Clarke confirm in writing and agree not to publish or cause to be published any defamatory statement, express or implied, in any way concerning Mr. Golding.
It stated that Mr. Clarke must also provide a written apology, published in a newspaper, and agree to discussions as to the terms of a settlement for damages for defamation.
When Mr. Hylton was asked if an apology was privately issued, he also withheld a comment.
