The Electoral Office of Jamaica says, rain or shine, the nomination of candidates for the four by-elections will get underway on Wednesday as planned.

Last month, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced by-elections for the Trelawny Southern and St. Andrew North Western constituencies and Morant Bay and Aenon Town divisions, to be held on November 22.

Speaking with Radio Jamaica News on Tuesday afternoon, Director of Elections Glasspole Brown said the EOJ is prepared and the activities will take place despite the inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Rafael.

He said nominations for the parliamentary by-elections will be undertaken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while nominations will begin at 12 p.m. and end at 2 p.m. for the municipal by-elections.

Former House Speaker and Member of Parliament for Trelawny Southern Marisa Dalrymple Philibert is expected to be nominated for Trelawny Southern while Councillor Dwayne Smith is expected to be nominated for St. Andrew North Western. Both are representing the Jamaica Labour Party.

The People's National Party has indicated that it will not be participating in the constituency by-elections but will contest the municipal by-elections in Morant Bay, St. Thomas and Aenon Town, Clarendon.

In the Morant Bay division, Winston Downe is the JLP's candidate while Rose Marie Shaw is representing the PNP.

The JLP's Suzzette Barton and the PNP's Delroy Dawson are expected to be nominated in the Aenon Town division.
