One dead, two in custody after police operation in St. Elizabeth

One man is dead and two others are in custody following a police operation in Grosmond, St. Elizabeth police about 11:30 Friday morning.
 
Among the two in custody is an 18-year-old female.
 
A gun was also recovered during the operation, making it the second firearm to be seized in the parish within the last 12 hours.
 
Deputy Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the division, said the police, acting on intelligence, began searching premises in the area when they were met with gunshots. 
 
"The men ran in separate directions in the bushes. Police returned fire. One man was hit and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead."
 
He said the police are searching for two others who escaped. They also continue to search the area as they believe there could be more illegal guns. 
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that a canine unit has been deployed for the search.
 
Following the operation, items of clothing belonging to the men could be seen scattered about on the premises.
 
DSP Minto said the men are responsible for a series of armed robberies across the parish. 
 
"So we will be conducting further investigation. Another suspect has been held in this operation, and he will be taken to the Black River CIB for further processing. We will continue our operations right across the parish until we have these persons responsible in custody," he declared. 
 
The Independent Commission of Investigations is also probing the shooting.?
