Police gaining ground in murder investigations as crime figures fall

Police Area One Commander, Assistant Commissioner Glenford Miller, says, as crime figures fall, the police are gaining ground in murder investigations.

Area One has so far recorded a strong 125 per cent clearance rate.

ACP Miller says fewer crimes have afforded investigating officers more time to crack complex murder cases.

"Whenever there is a reduction in murders within divisions, the detectives now have more time to investigate current crimes and also crimes that have been a few years behind. So they have more time. And this is why the operational push is important to ensure that there is no incidence of crime within the space, so our investigators can have more time now to investigate the cases. And it has been helping us," he declared.
