The police have received equipment valued at over $650 million to boost its technological capabilities.
The investment comprises over 1,000 rugged mobility e-ticketing devices, 1,500 mobile printers, along with 600 mobile and portable data-capable Motorola radios.
Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake said the equipment will boost the Jamaica Constabulary Force's operational readiness.
"The enhanced digital enforcement capability and communication across the force that these equipment offer are necessary, as we continue to expand our patrol fleet. I trust that this investment continues to provide our citizens with the assurance of our commitment to improving public safety through modern policing, technology, infrastructure," he said.
The Police Commissioner pointed to "significant progress" in the fight against crime and violence, citing a 40% reduction in murders, a 32?cline in shootings, and a 21% drop in overall major crimes.
He attributed the progress to the police's "deliberate strategy, a highly motivated and mobilised staff and significant improvement in how we work each day".
Dr. Blake was speaking Wednesday during the handing-over ceremony at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Kingston.
